The Central Europe Puzzle game was online for eight weeks now. Almost one thousand players tried to solve the puzzle within this time.

One of them nevertheless was unbeatable. Denis Kristek from the Slovak Republic managed to puzzle Central Europe together in 1 minute in 54 seconds. 

His effort will be rewarded. He will go to Brussels to participate in the closed opening session of this year’s Open Days on 4 October including speeches held among others by the president of the EU-Commission José Manuel Barroso and EU-Commissioner for Regional Development, Johannes Hahn.

The second place goes to Mr. Kristek too, the third to Mr. Johaness Lutter from Austria. Both will recieve a book highlighting success stories of European Regional Policy. Congratulations!

Although there are no further prices to win for the moment, the game will be further available on the Central Europe website to play!

The CENTRAL EUROPE Puzzle

67 regions – one area

The Central Europe area consists of 67 regions in the EU and in the Ukraine. Bringing them together into one big region and constructing the Central Europe area is the aim of the game. Where is Lombardia, where is Nyugat-Dunantul? Is Stredni Morava close to Dolnoslaskie? Who can be the quickest? Nice prices are waiting...

Please note:

  1. Everybody is invited to play. Nevertheless, only registered members who are also logged in on the Central Europe website are able to submit their time and therefore are able to win prices. You can achieve the high score by finishing the puzzle in the shortest time. The current 10 best times will be displayed. To submit the high score please log in here. If you are not registered as a member of the Central Europe website yet, please find here the possibility to register yourself.
  2. The game will be available on the Central Europe website for eight weeks (until 10 September 2010). The player, who manages to solve the puzzle in the shortest time will be the winner and receives a small present. 1st price will be participation in the VIP Opening of 2010 Open Days in Brussels attended also by the president of the European Commission, Mr. Barroso and Commissioner for regional policy, Mr. Hahn. 2nd and 3rd price will be a book highlighting success stories of European Regional Policy.

How to play:

  1. Start the game by clicking on the “NEW GAME” button, the time starts to be counted
  2. Click on the puzzle pieces and drag them to the exact location within the Central Europe map, drop the piece at the correct location
  3. Try to drag all pieces to the correct place
  4. When all the pieces are located correctly the time stops
  5. Best ten players will be shown in the “High Score List”
  6. Press “Click here to try again” for another game
