Details of past programme events
This section gives access to short reports, proceedings, presentations and pictures of past programme events.
The Annual Conference took place on 1 and 2 July 2014 in Vienna, Austria. Achievements of 124 projects implemented in the past seven years were presented and discussed among project partners, policy makers and other stakeholders from all over central Europe. The question of how transnational cooperation can actually help building a strong central Europe was discussed following a key note speech by renowned central Europe expert Professor Jacques Rupnik from Sciences Po University in Paris. High-profile speakers contributing to the debate included Normunds Popens, Deputy Director-General for Regional Policy at the European Commission, Teresa Marcinow from the Ministry for Regional Development in Poland, Christian Helmenstein from the Brussels-based industry association Business Europe, and Martin Pospischill, Head of Vienna’s EU Strategy Department. On 2 July 2014, the conference introduced details of the upcoming first call for project proposals of the new CENTRAL EUROPE 2020 Programme. In a project idea fair and partner search forum, more than 50 project ideas were presented and discussed by public and private institutions from all over central Europe.
The training on the project closure, audits and communications was next in the series of workshops organised by the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme in order to exchange good practices and strengthen the projects’ capacities.
The Annual Conference 2013 took place on 15 and 16 May 2013 in Padua, Italy. The conference linked the presentation of the thematic achievements of the current programme with the collection of feedback for the new programme going beyond 2014. The running projects have capitalised on their activities within the set of thematic workshops on first conference day. The day was concluded by the evening reception devoted to the video awards CENTRAL EUROPE “Film Reel Video Competition”. Speakers representing the European Commission, Committee of Regions, JASPERS, and the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme 2014-2020 Steering Group discussed the programming of the new programme and access to new funds. All CENTRAL EUROPE project partners as well as thematic stakeholders from all governance levels provided feedback on the intended priorities and actions of the new CENTRAL EUROPE Programme 2014-2020 during the set of thematic workshops ensuing the inputs from the panelists.
Over the past years, valuable practical experience has been gained regarding project management – both on management level of the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme and on the level of funded projects. This experience was discussed in this two-day workshop which took place in Vienna on 21-22 November 2012. The focus was on the exchange of good practices and on strengthening the projects’ capacities.
The CENTRAL EUROPE and South East Programmes invited project Communication Managers and Lead Partners to the training dedicated to communications. The event took place on 12-13 September 2012 in Maribor.
The CENTRAL EUROPE Programme invited successful applicants of the 4th call to a Lead Partner Seminar in Vienna.
The Annual Conference took place on 22 and 23 May 2012 in Halle/Saale, Germany. At the conference we looked at transnational achievements reached so far and discussed future challenges and opportunities for central European regions with high-profile speakers such as the State Secretary of Saxony-Anhalt and also Vice-Chairman of the Commission for Territorial Cohesion (COTER) in the Committee of the Regions Michael Schneider, Deputy Director-General DG REGIO Normund Popens, Deputy Minister of Regional Development Poland Konrad Niklewicz, Head of Regional Economics and Governance Unit of OECD William Tompson and others. Thematic project workshops and an exhibition further highlighted the benefits of transnational cooperation in the central European area. All these activities aimed at strengthening the interaction between project partners, regional development professionals, politicians and other relevant actors in the field of regional development.

The focus was on the exchange of good practices and on strengthening the projects’ capacities to better spread their results as well as to generate long-lasting effects.
Following the launch of the Fourth call for proposals CENTRAL EUROPE organised two Lead Applicant Briefings to support Lead Applicants and project promoters in preparartion of their project proposals in the view of the submissions of their application forms.

ANNUAL EVENT: "Approaching Central Europe" (December 2010)
Being in the middle of the funding period running from 2007 to 2013, the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme used the opportunity to look back on the first half of the programming period but also to give an outlook on the next steps to be taken until 2013 and beyond during its this year’s Annual Event in Prague.
EUREGIA 2010 (October 2010)
The CENTRAL EUROPE Programme participated in the EUREGIA 2010, the internationl congress and fairon local and regional development, organised biannually in Leipzig (Germany). The focus of this year´s Euregia was "Climate Change".

CONGRESS "STRATEGIES FOR INNOVATION AND COMPETITIVENESS IN EUROPE" (April 2010)
The CENTRAL EUROPE Programme, together with the Enterprise Europe Network Baden-Württemberg, Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum and the Ministry of Economics Baden-Württemberg, organised the public congress “Strategies for Innovation and Competitiveness in Europe” on 14 and 15 April 2010 in Stuttgart, Germany

National CENTRAL EUROPE Kick-Off for Germany (October 2007)
The German national Kick-off event presented the framework for the future cooperation of the transnational CENTRAL EUROPE Programme in Dresden Germany.
CENTRAL EUROPE KICK-OFF (2-3 July 2007)
550 EU-level actors and regional development professionals discussed visions and project ideas for CENTRAL EUROPE at programme launch. EU Commissioner Hübner highlighted importance of good cooperation for the development of the region.
