67 regions in 1 minute 54 seconds

Winner of Central Europe Puzzle game will go to opening ceremony of this year’s Open Days.

The Central Europe Puzzle, an online game in which players have to drag and drop all 67 regions of the Central Europe Programme into the correct space on the map was online for eight weeks now. Almost one thousand players tried to solve the puzzle within this time.

One of them nevertheless was unbeatable. Denis Kristek from the Slovak Republic managed to puzzle Central Europe together in 1 minute in 54 seconds. This means that Mr. Kristek needed an average of less than two second for each puzzle piece. “Geography was always a hobby of mine. With the Central Europe puzzle I have learnt about the shape of the region of Lombardia for example”. Mr. Kristek said.

But, as Mr. Kristek confirms, to solve the puzzle in such a short time needed some practice: “I was able to put the puzzle together quicker and quicker every time I tried. Instead of watching television in the evening I played the game.” He even did the effort to look up the regions and projects involved after the game on the website of the Programme.

This effort will be rewarded. As winner of the puzzle game Mr. Kristek will go to Brussels to participate in the closed Opening Session of this year's Open Days on 4 October including speeches held among others by the president of the EU-Commission José Manuel Barroso and EU-Commissioner for Regional Development, Johannes Hahn.

Although there are no further prices to win for the moment, the game will be further available on the Central Europe website (http://www.central2013.eu/puzzle-game/) to play.
