Partly a house and partly a hotel, dedicated to those people who do not like hotel stays; in short, this is a form of hospitality that takes the name of the Italian “Albergo Diffuso” (AD). Its main components are distributed in different buildings, all located in the same village/town. The term diffused denotes a structure that is horizontal, and not vertical like the one pertaining to traditional hotels, which often do not constitute a pleasant sight, reminding us of blocks of flats.

Tourism along the Styrian iron road is dominated by the attractions in Leoben
and by the absolutely “lighthouse” of the region, the Styrian iron mountain. In
winter many people join the alpine skiing around “Präbichl”.
All the other touristical attractions have a comparable low touristical evectiveness. If tourism shall became an important economical factor in the
region new ideas must be developed. How is it possible to strengthen the
touristical value of regional resources and regional characteristics.
This paper gives a short overview about tourism in the region and lists important projects of a possible development in the future.

Mining covers a broad spectrum. This ranges from industrial culture to

Sustainable tourism development is a management process which requires strategic and collaborative decision making. Governance is part of the management approach. To the same extent, however, success depends on a conceptual progress, lead by objectives which are adopted by the local stakeholders – appropriate to the specific background of the territory – and definition of a unique selling position.
The VV‐TOMM model provides a tourism management model to fit
best to the needs of territories at a starting phase of tourism development. Furthermore it helps to improve the existing strategy. It guides territories through the major steps of successful tourism development with regard to the determination and measurement of their sustainability performance.
