CENTRAL EUROPE Output Library

The CENTRAL EUROPE Programme helps to improve living and working conditions in your region. Take a look at the CENTRAL EUROPE Output Library to find out what our projects do.

The Output Library collects (case) studies, surveys, analyses, inventories, guidelines and other interesting products from all our projects. Each output is connected with specific keywords.

Searching for a keyword or clicking on one of them in the tag cloud below will show you a list of relevant documents.

You can also search thematically according to colour: innovation, transport, environment, energy, demographic change, cultural heritage, cross-cutting topics.

The topics of the 2nd SoNorA University Think Tank conference are:

• Infrastructure between the Adriatic and the Baltic Sea
• Transeuropean Networks of Transport in Central Europe
• Simulation and modelling, forecasting and infrastructure

The papers are dealing with the opportunities and challenges of an improvement of the south-northwards oriented infrastructure in the area between the Adriatic and the Baltic Sea. The possibilities of a realisation of specific railway sections are discussed as well as the role of the European instrument of Transeuropean networks on the development of transport
infrastructure in Central Europe. Furthermore, aspects of the harbour-hinterland connection of ports, the inclusion of certain regions in the south-north network as well as the freight transport demand are analysed by the authors.

The topics of the 4th SoNorA University Think Tank conference are:
- Infrastructure and regional development
- Infrastructure, transport and trade
- Infrastructure and society

The papers are dealing with knowledge potentials of improved societal and knowledge linkages, system dynamics in transportation as well as the strengthening of Mediterranean ports. Furthermore the relative importance of transport infrastructure investments and its spatial impacts and effects are described and discussed.

The report identifies transport flows in rail, road and inland waterway. Two maps show the top ten transport flows on railway and on road. The last map displays intermodal terminals and their attraction area with a diameter of 100 km (50 km in all directions), the most important cities and the most important economical centres within the FLAVIA corridor.

Countries:Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia
Tag(s):Accessibility, Interconnectivity, Multimodal transport, Port, Rail, Road, Transport, Waterway

This report gives on overview of the situation on each national logistics market in the FLAVIA corridor. The national overviews are summarised to give a comprehensive status quo of the logistics market within the FLAVIA corridor. The results serve as a basis for further project actions and will show differences between the situations in the involved countries and will mark out common problems which have to be solved.

The first step in the creation of a sustainable inland waterway network lies in the definition of the inland waterways in the SoNorA area, analysing and characterizing them. The following step consists in identifying the key sections along with their problematic areas. Finally a solution to these problems must be proposed, in order to make the SoNorA inland waterway network an efficient and feasible alternative to road transport, integrating it in a scenario where goods may be transported using different transport modes. For this reason, a review of each SoNorA country inland waterway has been carried out in this analysis.

The analysis prepared by INWAPO project consults the development of the inland waterways and inland ports. It proves that the inland shipping has the large unexploited potential. Both the ports and waterways require many investments to meet the demands of the market and competition of the rail and road transport.
