One of the objectives of the remediation concept presented in the FOKS project was to evaluate the proposed remediation technologies in the context of human health risk (HRA). The preliminary assessment of HRA was conducted for four remediation technologies selected for the Jaworzno pilot site: pump & treat, capping, bioremediation and phytoremediation. The results of the carried out assessment are presented in this report.

UFIREG project elaborated standardised and harmonised measurements of ultrafine particles (UFP) in five European cities: Augsburg and Dresden (Germany), Prague (Czech Republic), Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Chernivtsi (Ukraine). On the basis of the data generated through UFIREG measurements, UFIREG partners assessed the exposure to UFP in the participating cities and analysed short-term effects of UFP and other air pollutants on mortality and hospital admissions. The transnational approach enabled the project team to carry out a multi-centre study, using the same monitoring and health outcome evaluation approaches across several cities in Central Europe.

The UHI project was initiated in order to establish a transnational awareness for the man-made negative effects on urban microclimate commonly known as the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon.
